Adrian's Triumph Tiger 1200 page
The new Tiger 1200 Explorer has been launched. I saw it at the NEC show 19 Nov 2011 for the first time and sat on it
twice, there was a Tiger 1050 beside it, handy for comparison.  The new Triumph Tiger 1200 looks very promising.  The
engine is taller and the castings are all new.  The 1200 feels bigger but seat height is the same as the Tiger 1050 and  I
could get my feet down, but you know you are sitting "In" a much bigger bike, just compare the height of the tank to the
seat.  The overall look and feel is Triumphtastic, definitely one of the most popular bikes at the show.  I can't wait for a test
ride March 2012.  From my research it seems that the engine makes 134 hp and the all up weight ready to ride with a full
tank is 259 kgs wet, my Tiger 1050 is 228kgs wet and the BMW 1200GS is reputedly 245kgs (with the Adventure another
20kgs).  The 1200 Explorer comes with a 150 section 17" rear tyre and a 19" front.  Overall the new Tiger Explorer is more
of a tourer and clearly aimed at the BMW competition.  The frame looks similar to the 800 Tiger and there is a single
sided shaft drive.  It is clear to see that the Tiger 1050 is smaller and more sporty.  Hopefully these is scope for both
bikes in the Triumph range for a few years.  See my photos taken from the show below.

Below are pictures of a 900cc diesel powered bike with a CVT gearbox and shaft drive.  Made in Holland and assembled in Dorset.  100mpg is claimed and they
have sold 70 so far.  Surely this is the future for Adventure/Touring bikes.  I think they have done a brilliant job.  The engine is an in-line triple so come on Triumph.
